Fellow Marin Republicans,

First and foremost, thank you for going to the polls last week. Every vote does count and it's important for us to vote in each and every election.

While the results of the election still need to be certified, here's a quick snapshot as to how our three candidates fared along with comparisons to previous elections. It's worth noting that having three candidates isn't a given now that we're dealing with open primaries so each of our candidates should be commended for making it to the general election as well!

In each race, the Republican candidate exceeded Republican registration which means our party's efforts to broaden our appeal to DTS voters and disenfranchised Democrats continues.

  • In Congressional District 2, we dropped by only 2% when compared to the 2012 election.
  • While the Senate Districts were different in 2010 as compared to 2014, our candidate Larry Wiesner came in a respectable 10% over registration this year.
  • In the Assembly race, our candidate Gregory Allen fought a difficult primary race to bring us back to 8% over registration for the general election. This increase is of note considering that in the 2012 election we didn't even have a Republican make it to the general election.

Overall, our candidates ran races in very difficult districts and performed above expectations. Please join me in thanking them for their time and service to our Party. Without candidates willing to step up to the plate, we are unable to give the voters a choice on election day. I think you'll agree that giving voters a choice is an important component of continuing to grow our Party's influence in Marin.
