Paul Lavery, a resident of the 6th District since 2003, currently resides in Novato with his wife Nicole and his two young children (son Liam 2 years old and daughter Callan one year old). In a relatively short period of time, the Lavery’s, Paul and Nicole, have collectively lived in several cities in Marin County. While building a new family, they have resided in Mill Valley, Tiburon, and San Rafael before ultimately settling in Northern Novato. 

Paul was born in Montclair, New Jersey and is the youngest of eight children. As a young boy, Paul attended the St. Cassian School, a private Catholic elementary school through the fifth grade. Upon relocation to Roswell, GA (a suburb of Atlanta) for his middle school years, Paul attended public schools until graduation from high school. During these formative years, Paul gained an awareness of the importance of quality education and the value of a caring and active local community.

Paul was greatly influenced by the culture and dynamics of politics in the South and in Georgia. After completing his high school education, he would go on to receive a Bachelors of Arts (BA) in Communications, Law, Economics, and Government from the American University in Washington, DC. After graduation, Paul moved back to Georgia to pursue a career in political management.

His first formal position in politics was as a state party operations manager working during Georgia Governor Zell Miller’s first term. A change of party affiliation came about after the 1992 Presidential Election. As with many Southern Democrats, Paul realized that his core beliefs were more aligned with the Republican Party. He worked for a leading Republican polling firm (Public Opinion Strategies) during the 1994 election cycle and also helped co-found a political action committee (The Georgia Majority Coalition) to help GOP State Senate candidates. The founding co-chairs of this committee would go on to realize great political success (Governor Sonny Perdue and U.S. Representative Tom Price).

Currently, Paul’s professional career is in the technology industry as the Director of Product Management for Inovis, Inc., a leading eCommerce software company based in Alpharetta, GA. His responsibilities include managing the product line and strategic direction for the Richmond, CA division of Inovis. Paul holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and has had experience working in entrepreneurial environments and consulting with Fortune 500 firms.
